After being formally trained as a high school History teacher, I went from the classroom to the courtroom in 2009. I had plenty of adventures, including living a year in Africa working with a UN tribunal, before eventually settling down to practice criminal defense and family law in Knoxville, Tennessee.
I became a small business owner in 2018 when my husband and I opened our boutique family law practice in Knoxville, Tennessee. I quickly found out that owning your own business came with a lot of extra, unseen responsibilities, and I became our Creative Director and Managing Partner overnight.
As I learned more about digital marketing to market ourselves, I also learned how much I loved it! More importantly, I saw that it was really hard to find a digital marketing company who understood exactly what our small business needed.
Our Story
In hindsight, it's easy to see that I've spent my entire career training for this business.
For service-based small businesses, I sincerely believe the key to successful digital marketing is effective storytelling. Not simply spinning a tall tale, but telling YOUR story in a way that is powerful and effective. Done right, this kind of marketing will attract your ideal client to you, rather than leaving you to chase after them.
These businesses do not simply need "customers" like a retail store, who might make a single purchase and hopefully return when they need more product. Service-based businesses rely on clients, people with whom you will have a personal relationship. And that relationship begins before they ever meet you - through your digital marketing. Even if your business has grown largely due to word-of-mouth, people will seek you out online to learn more about you before ever reaching out.
From my training in education, to my near-decade of law practice, I have spent the last 15 years learning how to best tell the stories of others. It was no wonder I found such joy in the digital marketing aspect! Before long, the transition to turn my focus to digital marketing full-time became a no-brainer. And, as they say, the rest is history.
